What the slug?

A few weeks from now Baby Dee will start her Regifted Light tour, during which a special house concert will be held at her home in Cleveland, Ohio. As space is limited, only a very happy few will be able to attend the concert and experience the album’s music in the exact environment in which it was recorded during the winter of 2010. So Matthew Robinson, Mark Messing and Jon Steinmeir will join Baby Dee on May 12th, 2011 with their wide range of instruments.

Long time Baby Dee fan Andrew WK, who produced Regifted Light, will be one of the many special people attending Dee’s special house concert in Cleveland. He loves her so much he loaned her his grand piano to play to her heart’s content. Once she and the piano had written a bunch of new music, mostly in mini-concerto form, he flew out to Cleveland to record her, the piano, and the music with a little chamber outfit hired on especially for the occasion. The album features cello, tuned percussion, and pump organs as well as touches of brass and woodwind from Mucca Pazza‘s own Mark Messing! The record tends towards bright, bouncing classical music, only then to twist back into a quartet of great Baby Dee songs, like the title track, “On the Day I Died,” “Brother Slug and Sister Snail,” and last but maybe most, “The Pie Song.” All of which is produced with depth and majesty by Mr. WK. Sweetness and (regifted) light!
